Jaw Tension and Facial Massage in Toronto

A jaw that has been clenching for years changes how the whole lower face reads.Puffiness is fluid. Fluid moves.

Sous La Face Yorkville · 110 Scollard Street

The masseter and temporalis are among the strongest muscles in the body, & they hold clenching, stress & screen posture. Sustained tension there makes the jaw read wider & the temple tighter. Sous La Face in Yorkville works with that tension manually, inside & outside the mouth, as the Release stage of the RRR™ Method.

01 · The Reframe

Jaw tension is usually treated as a pain problem. We treat it as a face problem.

Most of the work available in Toronto for a tight jaw is framed medically and sold on relief. That has its place, and for a diagnosed condition it is the right place.

But most people who come to Sous La Face are not describing pain. They are describing a jaw that looks heavier than it did, a lower face that feels pulled down, a face that reads tired. That is what this work addresses.

02 · The Method

How we work with it

External work through the temple, jaw and neck. Intra-oral work on the masseter and buccinator, reachable only from inside the mouth. Then lymphatic rerouting, because released tissue also releases fluid.

The intra-oral part is set out in detail on our buccal massage in Toronto page, and where facial tension comes from is covered in our guide to facial tension.

Intra-oral work on the masseter, reachable only from inside the mouth.

03 · The Scope

What this work does, and where it stops

Many people come to us for TMJ-related tension, and this is work we are glad to do. We release the masseter, temporalis and the surrounding fascia, including the muscles reachable only from inside the mouth. We do not diagnose or treat TMJ disorder itself. If you have a diagnosed condition, or pain limiting how you eat, speak or sleep, we work alongside your dentist or physician.

Releasing sustained tension can change how the lower face reads. It does not reduce muscle mass the way an injectable does.

04 · The Honest Part

One visit will not fix clenching

One visit releases what has built up. Clenching is a habit and it rebuilds, which is why consistency is the method. Most people come every two to four weeks at first, then monthly.

The 75 minute treatments differ by what is added. The Ultimate RRR™ Face adds time with a practitioner. Glow, Clear and Renew add a modality on top of the manual work.

A single visit is $259. RRR™ Essential membership is $229 a month and includes one RRR™ treatment plus two Recovery Room visits, so your first month costs less than one visit. For tension that rebuilds, the membership is the version that works.

06 · Recovery

Then the Recovery Room

Infrared sauna, cold plunge and red light therapy at the Yorkville studio, bookable alongside your treatment and included in both memberships. Heat is a reasonable place to finish after an hour of release work.

09 · Questions

Asked, answered.

Yes. We support TMJ relief by releasing the muscles that hold that tension: the masseter, temporalis and the muscles reachable only from inside the mouth. We do not diagnose or treat the joint itself. If you have a TMJ diagnosis, we are glad to work alongside your dentist.

Often, yes. Jaw clenching and temporalis tension are a common driver of tension headaches, and many clients who get migraines book for the same muscular tension. We release the jaw, temples and cervical chain. We do not treat or prevent migraine, and we are not a substitute for medical care.

Releasing sustained tension can change how the lower face reads. It does not reduce muscle mass the way an injectable does.

It is firm and specific. Where tension is held it can feel intense, but never sharp, and the pressure changes the moment you say so.

One visit releases what has built up, and most people see and feel the difference the same day. Clenching is a habit though, and it rebuilds. Consistency is what changes it.

Yes. Infrared sauna, cold plunge and red light therapy can be booked alongside your treatment, and both memberships include visits.

Many clients do. Tell us what you have had and when, and we will adjust the work.

Every two to four weeks while unwinding significant tension, then monthly to hold it.
