The Recovery Room at Sous La Face West Hollywood brings infrared sauna, cold plunge, and red light therapy together in one self-guided circuit. As the body counterpart to Sous La Face’s lymphatic facial sculpting work, the combined experience supports muscle recovery, healthy fluid movement, sleep, and skin radiance. It can be enjoyed before or after any treatment, or arranged as a standalone wellness reset for West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Hollywood Hills, and central Los Angeles.
Twenty minutes in the infrared sauna to warm the body, raise heart rate, designed to support through sweat, and prime the lymphatic and cardiovascular systems.
Infrared sauna heats the body directly rather than heating the air. Paired with the cold plunge, the contrast opens and closes the vessels in sequence, supports lymphatic flow, eases muscle soreness, and leaves most people calmer than they arrived.
Red and near-infrared light penetrate below the skin’s surface, where they are absorbed by mitochondria. In a randomised controlled trial of 128 people, 30 sessions improved wrinkles in 69 percent of those treated against 4 percent of untreated controls, and significantly increased collagen density and skin smoothness. Wunsch and Matuschka, Photomedicine and Laser Surgery, 2014. Evidence for red light in pain and athletic performance is earlier and less settled.
Infrared sauna, cold plunge and red light therapy each have peer-reviewed literature behind them, and the honest position is that it varies in strength. Heat dilates the vessels, cold constricts them and resets the nervous system, and red light is absorbed by the mitochondria in skin and muscle. The large Finnish cohort studies associating frequent sauna use with lower stroke and blood pressure risk were conducted in traditional dry saunas, and their authors state the findings should not be applied to other sauna types, including infrared. A Cochrane review of 17 trials found cold water immersion significantly reduced muscle soreness for up to 96 hours after exercise, while rating the study quality as low. For red light, a randomised controlled trial of 128 people found wrinkles improved in 69 percent of those treated, compared with 4 percent of untreated controls.

Contrast therapy eases muscle soreness after exercise and settles the nervous system. A Cochrane review of 17 trials found cold water immersion significantly reduced muscle soreness at 24 to 96 hours after exercise, though the authors rate the study quality as low. The large Finnish cohort studies associating sauna use 4 to 7 times per week with lower stroke and blood pressure risk were conducted in traditional dry saunas, and the authors state their findings should not be applied to other sauna types, including infrared.
Red and near-infrared light, typically 660 to 850nm, penetrate below the skin’s surface where they are absorbed by mitochondria. In a randomised controlled trial of 128 people published in Photomedicine and Laser Surgery in 2014, 30 sessions improved wrinkles in 69 percent of those treated compared with 4 percent of untreated controls, and significantly increased collagen density and skin smoothness. Evidence for red light in pain relief and athletic performance is earlier and less settled.
